For the first time since the 2009–10 season, Tottenham did not compete in any European competition, due to an eighth-place finish in the 2022–23 Premier League.[1] It was also the first season since 2008–09 not to feature the club's all-time leading goalscorer Harry Kane, who departed to join German champions Bayern Munich, bidding farewell to Spurs after fourteen years at the club.
On 6 June 2023, Tottenham announced that Ange Postecoglou would become the new head coach on a four-year contract.[2]
On 12 August, South Korea's Son Heung-min was named the club's new captain, having been appointed in place of Hugo Lloris.[3]
