Original caption: 1/7/1943-Washington, D.C.: A section of the Washington Navy Yard, showing a long line of lathes operated by women workers. The man in the center of the line is foreman of the group. This is one of the first pictures that the Navy has permitted to be made on the 1,400 women working at the Washington Navy Yard. BPA 2 #2357 |
