Talk:Candiru (fish)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
BBC's "Earth" has episode about Candiru in "Deep Dive" series. It has footage of Candiru entering a fish and eating it from inside. While the program does it not address the belief regarding candiru entering the body through the urethra, it certainly confirms the candru's ability to enter a body. The current article focuses solely on the question of whether candiru enter bodies through an orifface.

It does not provide information about how Candiru attack and consume prey. It is through a disturbing process of spinning and cutting into its prey through the use of external teeth. The Candiru then proceed to consume the prey from the inside. The diver filming this process notes he is wearing a heavy wetsuit and can feel numerous fish attempting to drill into it. The truth about Candiru is just as disturbing (if not more so.) They don't require an orifice to enter a body. They creat their own.
