Johor Bahru Metropolitan Area, the second most important metropolitan area in Malaysia and also the second largest metropolitan area in the country. The area covers the entire southern tip of Johor, with the capital, Johor Bahru, as the center. The metropolitan area is home to Malaysia's most developed SAR, Isandar Malaysia, and hence the Johor Bahru Metropolitan, also known as the Iskandar Metropolitan Area. Johor Bahru metropolis is in a leading position in all areas of southern Malaysia.

Johor Bahru Metropolitan is Malaysia's second most populous metropolitan with an estimated population of over 2.7 million in 2017 and is one of the most densely populated metropolitan areas in Malaysia[1].Besides that, the metropolitan area currently has 2 large cities with a population of over 750,000, they are Johor Bahru and Iskandar Puteri. There are also several high-tech industrial areas and free trade zones, among which Nusajaya - Senai - Kulai is one of Malaysia's three largest high-tech parks, where many high-tech manufacturers gather and are famous for their high-tech plastics industry[2][3].The urbanization rate in the metropolitan area reached 93% in 2017, ranking the second highest in the country[4],It is also recognized by Globalization and World Cities Research Network as the High Sufficiency Level City and is the second most globalization metropolitan area in Malaysia[5],It is also a financial, trade and commercial center in South Malaysia and a home to international banks.
The metropolitan area is one of Malaysia's principal logistics and transport hubs connecting the world with 3 international seaports and 1 international airport to form a prosperous transportation network[6].At the same time, it also has a good infrastructure and will have advanced transport such as rail and high-speed rail before 2026.
