Tim Couzens

Tim Couzens (1944–2016) was ’n Suid-Afrikaanse literêre en sosiale geskiedskrywer. In 1993 is hy met die CNA-literêre prys, asook die Sunday Times-Alan Paton-toekenning bekroon vir sy boek, Tramp Royal: The True Story of Trader Horn. Hy het 16 werke gepubliseer, waaronder Battles of South Africa, Murder at Morija en Nelson Mandela se Conversations With Myself.^[1]

Couzens is op 13 Februarie 1944 in Durban gebore en is aan die Hoërskool Durban, Rhodes Universiteit en die Universiteit van die Witwatersrand opgelei. Hy het tot 1976 by die Engelse Departement by Wits gedoseer, waarna hy by die Wits-instituut vir Afrika-studies aangesluit het, en daar tot sy aftrede professor was. Hy is op 28 Oktober 2016 by sy huis in Johannesburg oorlede nadat hy geval en beseer is. Hy was 72 jaar oud.^[2]
