Pohoří tvoří spolu s řekou Amur (Chej-lung-ťiang) část přírodní severní hranice Čínské lidové republiky. Řeka Amur pohoří fakticky protíná na dvě části. Pásmo směřuje v severozápadně-jihovýchodním směru. Tvoří předěl mezi údolím řeky Amur a údolím řeky Non.
