Meddyg, adaregydd, biolegydd, llawfeddyg, söolegydd a naturiaethydd nodedig o'r Deyrnas Unedig oedd Andrew Smith (3 Rhagfyr 1797 - 11 Awst 1872). Roedd yn llawfeddyg, archwilydd, yn ethnolegydd ac yn sŵolegydd Albanaidd. Ystyrir ef fel tad sŵoleg yn Ne Affrica wedi iddo ddisgrifio nifer helaeth o rywogaethau ar draws ystod eang o grwpiau yn ei gyfanwaith - Illustrations of the Zoology of South Africa. Cafodd ei eni yn Hawick, Y Deyrnas Unedig ac addysgwyd ef ym Mhrifysgol Caeredin. Bu farw yn Llundain.
