Το Ελ Αλαμέιν (El Alamein ή Al Alamayn) (αραβικά: العلمين) είναι πόλη της Βόρειας Αιγύπτου στα παράλια της Μεσογείου. Βρίσκεται 106 χιλιόμετρα (66 μίλια) δυτικά της Αλεξάνδρειας και 240 χιλιόμετρα (149 μίλια) βορειοδυτικά του Καΐρου. Ο πληθυσμός της πόλης ήταν περίπου 5,788 άνθρωποι το 1996[3].

Το όνομα της πόλης είναι παραφθορά του ονόματος του Αγίου Μηνά στα αραβικά.[4]
Μέχρι πρόσφατα η πόλη ήταν λιμένας μεταφόρτωσης πετρελαίου, όμως, όπως το σύνολο της βόρειας ακτής της Αιγύπτου, εξελίσσεται σε τουριστικό προορισμό.
Το Ελ Αλαμέιν έπαιξε σημαντικό ρόλο στην έκβαση του Β΄ Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου καθώς στην περιοχή έλαβαν χώρα δύο εκτεταμένες μάχες:
Υπάρχει τοπικό πολεμικό μουσείο με αντικείμενα από τον εμφύλιο πόλεμο και άλλες Βορειοαφρικανικές μάχες. Οι επισκέπτες μπορούν επίσης να επισκεφτούν τα ιταλικά και γερμανικά στρατιωτικά νεκροταφεία στον λόφο Τελ ελ Εΐσα (Tel el-Eisa Hill), έξω από την πόλη. Το γερμανικό νεκροταφείο είναι ένα οστεοφυλάκιο που περιέχει τα λείψανα 4.200 Γερμανών στρατιωτών και το οποίο έχει κτιστεί σε ρυθμό μεσαιωνικού φρουρίου. Το ιταλικό νεκροταφείο είναι μαυσωλείο που περιέχει πολλούς τάφους. Οι τάφοι φέρουν τα ονόματα των νεκρών στρατιωτών, αρκετοί όμως φέρουν την επιγραφή «IGNOTO» (άγνωστος), εάν ο νεκρός δεν είχε αναγνωριστεί.
Υπάρχει επίσης το συμμαχικό στρατιωτικό νεκροταφείο που περιέχει τάφους στρατιωτών από διαφορετικές χώρες οι οποίοι πολέμησαν με τους Βρετανούς. Σε αυτό έχουν στηθεί μνημεία για να τιμήσουν τη μνήμη των δυνάμεων από την Ελλάδα, τη Νέα Ζηλανδία, την Αυστραλία και τη Νότια Αφρική. Το συμμαχικό νεκροταφείο αποτελείται από παράλληλες σειρές από ταφόπλακες, η κάθε μία από τις οποίες φέρει χαραγμένο το έμβλημα της μονάδας όπου ανήκε ο θανών, το όνομά του και έναν επικήδειο από την οικογένειά του.
