The 1978 Izu Ōshima earthquake (Japanese: 伊豆大島近海の地震[4]) is an earthquake that occurred on January 14, 1978 at 12:24 local time.[5][6] The earthquake had a magnitude of MJMA7.0, and the epicenter was located in offshore Izu Ōshima, Japan.[7][8][9]
