Ar-Ruʼays (Arabic: اَلرُّؤَيْس), also spelled Al Ruwais, is a port town in the Qatari municipality of Al Shamal.[1] It is located on the northern tip of Qatar, approximately 127 km (79 mi) north of the capital Doha.[2] Before the country's economic landscape was transformed by oil extraction, Al Ruwais was one of the most important fishing centers on the peninsula.[3]
