Originally created by Owain Owain in 1963 (see www.owainowain.net) this pecil sketch became the basis of official logo of Cymdeithas yr iaith. Its name Tafod y Ddraig (trans: the Dragon's Tongue) was also used as the title of the society's magazine, which is still printed. Alcwyn Evans and Dafydd Iwan contributed to the development of the logo; the present version was drawn in 1969 by Robat Gruffudd of publishers Y Lolfa, following a suggestion by Elwyn Ioan.
