Blazon InfoField | Deutsch: Das durch Urkunde des Oberpräsidenten der Rheinprovinz vom 14. April 1937 genehmigte Stadtwappen enthält: „Im oberen blauen Feld den wachsenden, goldenen (gelben), rot gezungten und gekrönten Löwen und im unteren blauen Feld das redende Bachmotiv eines alten Schöffensiegels.“ Blasonierung: „Geteilt von Blau und Silber (Weiß), oben ein wachsender rot gekrönter, bewehrter und gezungter zwiegeschwänzter goldener (gelber) Löwe, unten drei blaue Wellenbalken.“ Das Wappen ähnelt dem Wappen der 1972 eingemeindet Gemeinde Beeck, welches im oberen teil den schwarzen Jülicher Löwen zeigt; das Wegberger Wappen hingegen zeigt den geldrischen goldenen Löwen, da große teil der ehemaligen Gemeinde Wegberg zum Herzogtum Geldern gehörten. Im unteren Teil sind die drei Bäche Schwalm, Beeckbach und Mühlenbach dargestellt. English: „The arms were granted on April 14, 1937. The upper part of the arms shows the lion of Geldern, as the area belonged to the Duchy of Geldern. The lower part shows wavy bars and represents the former municipality of Beek (Beek means Bach, or stream, brook). The arms were not changed after the merger.“ |
