Summary
Coat of arms InfoField | Deutsch: Stadt Steinfurt English: City of Steinfurt Français : ville de Steinfurt Nederlands: Stad Steinfurt |
English: „Azure, above a castlellated wall Or a three towers castle Or with a portculli; in the chief Or nine two fessy lozenges azure in ratio 5:4, standing on the tops.“
The arms were granted on November, 17, 1977. The arms are a combination of the arms of the two former municipalities. The chief based on the old arms of the medieval Lords of Borghorst. The other part shows the relief on the city hall of Burgsteinfurt dating from 1561. The oldest seal of the city dates from the 14th century and shows a tower. Later seals showed the tower behind city walls. All seals and arms of the city showed the castle, first with the single tower, later with the three towers as in the arms. The style of the castle varied according to the style of the times. Nederlands: niet gespecificeerd |
