The U.S. freedom of panorama, found at Sec. 120(a), allows photography and the distribution or public display of resulting images of architectural works that are found in or visible from public spaces. Definition of architecture or building (under 17 U.S. Code, Sec. 101) Humanly habitable structures that are intended to be both permanent and stationary, such as houses and office buildings, and other permanent and stationary structures designed for human occupancy, including but not limited to churches, museums, gazebos, and garden pavilions. (CFR 202.11(b)(2)) A note to English Wikipedia readers from countries with no freedom of panorama While this image is free in the United States and English Wikipedia only follows the U.S. copyright law, English Wikipedia readers from countries with no freedom of panorama are cautioned to not use this image in a way that may violate the economic rights of the architects who designed this work of architecture. Do not use this template on copyrighted public artworks (like statues, sculptures, and murals)! The U.S. freedom of panorama does not extend to public artworks. This means images of such works must be treated as non-free (even if these contain uploaders' licensing) and must follow the relevant guidelines on non-free content, or be deleted otherwise, unless the works are in the public domain, or their presence is incidental.
