English: The portrait is derived from Holbein's 1532 portrait of Cromwell (Frick Collection, ref. 1915.1.76) but shows him looking older. A similar miniature, with the Garter collar, survives (National Portrait Gallery, ref. NPG 6311). This one is attributed to Holbein by the National Portrait Gallery, but most scholars do not include it among Holbein's original works. |
