Ivan Kral (12 May 1948 – 2 February 2020) was a Czech-born American composer, filmmaker, guitarist, record producer, bassist, and singer-songwriter.[1] He worked across genres including pop music, punk rock, garage rock, rock, jazz, soul, country and film scores. His music has been recorded by such artists as U2,[2][3] Téléphone,[4] Patti Smith,[5] Iggy Pop,[6] David Bowie,[7] Simple Minds,[8] and John Waite,[9] among others. The Czech three-time Andel Awards winner[10] died of cancer in 2020, aged 71.[11][12]
