Sokolsky District (Russian: Соко́льский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the forty in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia. As a municipal division, it is incorporated as Sokolsky Urban Okrug.[5] It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,981.4 square kilometers (765.0 sq mi).[1] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Sokolskoye.[1] Population: 14,139 (2010 Census);[2] 16,137 (2002 Census);[7] 19,559 (1989 Census).[8] The population of Sokolskoye accounts for 44.9% of the district's total population.[2]
