In 1906 it became the first country in Europe to give women the vote. Women have previous held senior posts including defence minister, national bank governor, speaker of parliament.
The new parliament has 75 female members - 37.5% of the total.
This doesn't belong on this page. Maybe on Politics of Finland. Jniemenmaa 12:31 Apr 16, 2003 (UTC)
I removed the stuff below from the page, since it is a almost a straight copy of this website
-- Jniemenmaa 12:48 May 10, 2003 (UTC)
I removed the statement "She was the first and so far only female prime minister to serve under a female president" because it had occurred in Sri Lanka in the late 1990s. --Mezaco (talk) 00:14, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
This article completely ignores the circumstances of her removal as PM, and it really should mention this in order to provide full details of her biography. Can someone please add a section about why she was forced to resign? --Mezaco (talk) 00:16, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
I second this. It's almost as if her minions have come in and tried to remove it from history. -- 98.247.25.157 (talk) 10:15, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
One user deleted the entire section on the scandal that led to her quick resignation. I restored it but I think more needs to be done to make sure the content itself is accurate. However completely deleting this section made the subject's tenure as one of the shortest in Finland's history practically incoherent. Ofrc3 (talk) 05:45, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
I think someone should add some sort of pronunciation guide on the English page for those of us who can't pronounce it. --Ajgajg1134 16:11, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
