This entire page has been copied from O'Dowd with close paraphrasing. As there is only a single source it is impossible to know what Chinese intentions were and whether or not these were achieved.Mztourist (talk) 04:07, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
This is paraphrasing of O'Dowd's: The Chinese recognized that their attacks on Quang Ninh were a failure. When Beijing announced its “great victory” over the Vietnamese, it mentioned every town where its forces had fought with success. But it never mentioned any of the towns in Quang Ninh province. O'Dowd's phrase The Chinese recognized that their attacks on Quang Ninh were a failure is not supported anywhere else in his book, rather in the following sentence he Synths that not mentioning the actions in Quang Ninh amounts to recognition of failure. User:Dino nam then paraphrases/Synths The Chinese recognized that their attacks on Quang Ninh were a failure further into The defeat in Quảng Ninh Province was clearly acknowledged by Chinese leadership which goes too far. The Chinese leadership never acknowledged or said anything regarding Quang Ninh. You can't say that failure to mention something = acknowledging it. Mztourist (talk) 05:58, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
