International football competition From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 2021 WUFA World Series: Surrey Stage was originally planned to be one of the multiple stages of the first edition of the WUFA World Series, an international football tournament organised by the World Unity Football Alliance, although in the end, it was the only stage held that year. [1] It was hosted in Surrey and won by the Chagos Islands[2][3]

The Surrey Stage was hosted by International Surrey Football at Merrist Wood College, Worplesdon, located roughly between Guildford and Woking in Surrey. The tournament was played behind closed doors with no spectator attendance permitted due to restrictions on fan attendance at sporting events imposed within the UK at the time it was held. Instead, a live stream of all four games was organised instead. [4]
The Chagos Island's participation in the tournament was the subject of the documentary film Expulsion, Exile & Extra Time.[5][6]
The winners of each of the two matches on the first day progressed to the final, while the two losing sides played in a third-place match. The tournament was held on 2 consecutive sundays, with each day seeing two matches play back-to-back. Games were played to 90 minutes and if the teams are tied after this time then a penalty shootout would immediately follow.
