In November 2005, Horasis, an independend Swiss Think tank, launched the 1st China Europe Business Meeting[1][2] in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting brought together more than 150 CEOs and political leaders from China and Europe. The participants, among them as co-chairs Fu Chengyu, CEO of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Guo Wei, CEO of Digital China, Armin Meyer, chairmann of Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Vincent H.S. Lo, chairman of Shui On Group, Zhang Yue[3], Chairman of Broad Air Conditioning, and Zhao Xizheng, Chairman of China Electricity Council, gathered to discuss the further integration of Chinese enterprises into the globalized economy and to analyze opportunities for cooperation between the two regions.[4]
In September 2006 the 2nd China Europe Business Meeting[5] took place, again in Geneva, with 250 participants. The co-chairs of this event were Ronnie C. Chan, chairman of Hang Lung Group, Cheng Feng, chairman of Hainan Airlines, Wen Chi Chen, CEO of VIA Technologies, Alan G. Hassenfeld, chairman of Hasbro, Narayana Murthy, chairman of Infosys, Johan Eliasch, chairman of Head N.V., and Ren Hongbin, president of China National Machinery Industry Corporation.[6]
The 3rd meeting[7][8][9], was hold November 2007 in Frankfurt[10], Germany, with the theme "Globalizing Chinese Corporations". The co-chairs of this meeting were Bertrand Collomb[8], Chairman of Lafarge, Jim Goodnight, CEO of SAS, Ernesto Heinzelmann, CEO of Embraco, Lawrence Ho, CEO of Melco, David K.P. Li, Chairman Bank of East Asia, Cherie Liem, Managing Director, GT Enterprises, Lim Chee Onn, chairman of Keppel Corporation, Klaus-Peter Müller[8], chairman Commerzbank, Andrey Sharonov, Chairman of Troika Dialog, Jean-Pascal Tricoire, CEO of Schneider Electric, Sundeep Waslekar, President of Strategic Foresight Group, Jerry Zhang, CEO of Neocomm Technologies, and Levin Zhu, CEO of China International Capital Corp. Also Jean-Claude Trichet[8], President of the European Central Bank and Supachai Panitchpakdi, Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development attended this meeting, which was overshadowed by political tensions[11] between Berlin and Beijing and the apparent subprime mortgage crisis[12].[13]
The 4th China Europe Business Meeting[14]was held in Barcelona, Spain, in November 2008 under the patronage of Spanish Crown Prince Felipe. In 2008, Horasis renamed this event the Global China Business Meeting in recognition of the fact that the gathering attracted an increased number of participants[15][16] from other parts of the world. The co-chairs of this meeting were César Alierta[17], Chairman of Telefónica S.A., Léo Apotheker[17], Co-CEO of SAP AG, Claude Beglé[18], Chairmann of Swiss Post, Chang Dae-whan[18][19], Chairman of Maeil, Cheng Feng[20], Chairman of Hainan Airlines, Fu Chengyu[21], CEO of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Jim Goodnight, CEO of SAS, Li Dongsheng[22], Chairman of TCL, Li Ruogu[22], Chairman of Exim Bank of China, Liu Changle[22], Chairman of Phoenix Television, Natalya Kaspersky, Chairman of Kaspersky Lab, Munir Majid, Chairman of Malaysia Airlines, Naushad Merali, Chairman of Sameer Group, Eduardo Montes, Chairman of FerroAtlantica, Joan Maria Nin[23], CEO of la Caixa, Josep Piqué[19], Chairman of Vueling Airlines, Anthony Salim, President of Salim Group, S. Sandilya, Chairman of Eicher Group, Shao Bo, Chairman of Novamed Pharmaceuticals, Yan Bingzhu[17], Chairman Bank of Beijing, and Zhang Yue, Chairman of Broad Air Conditioning. Also Miguel Ángel Moratinos, the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Juan Antonio Samaranch, former IOC-President[24] attended the meeting.

The 5th Global China Business Meeting[25][26] in Lisbon, Portugal, in November 2009[27][28] featured more than 400 participants from 42 countries such as the Prime Minister of Portugal, José Sócrates, and Luisa Dias Diogo, then-Prime Minister of Mozambique, the Portuguese Foreign Minister Luis Amado as well as business leaders like Samir Brikho, CEO of AMEC, Ronnie C. Chan[29], Chairman of Hang Lung Group, Cheng Ping, Chairman of TideTime Group, Feng Jun[30], Chairman of Aigo, Amadou Hott, CEO of UBA Capital, Kola Karim[31], CEO of Shoreline Energy International, David K.P. Li[32], Munir Majid, Chairman of Malaysia Airlines, John M. Neill, CEO of Unipart Group, Fernando Faria de Oliviera[33], Chairman of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Ricardo Salgado[33], Chairman of Banco Espírito Santo, Alessandro Teixeira, President of APEX, Bruno Wu, Chairman of Redrock Captial Group, Wu Ying, President of CTC Capital, Zhou Chengjian, President Metersbonwe Group, and Levin Zhu, CEO of CICC.
Horasis is hosting this year's Global China Business Meeting in Luxembourg on 21-22 November 2010[34].
