Tin Tin Sein is a first ever Myanmar woman who travelled between 1955 and 1956 over 29 countries on the back of a World Word two surplus 1942 model BSA M20 motorcycle with her husband U Ba Toke. Tin Tin Sein was 18 and U Ba Toke was 43 when they started over a yearlong over land trip. They drove over 50000 miles across the continents and reached to BSA factory in Birmingham. The then BSA chair Sir Bernard Docker received the couple at the factory and requested to buy the motorcycle that the couple drove all the way from Burma to Britain, and offer a new BSA model to them. Due to the strict regulation of the trade act of Myanmar at that time, the couple could not accept the offer. Over 50,000 miles driven by ex-army BSA M20 is a world breaking record at that time and probably until now.
The couple has five children and the first one was only six months old when made the world tour in 1955. U Ba Toke passed away in 1996. Tin Tin Sein retired from several civil servants post in 1982 and concentrated on religious activities and philanthropist works. She wrote numerous books and articles on her travel experiences in 1955 and later time. She has been living in Bagan and running a hotel with a few stuff.
