My IP has been blocked. But, I am a long standing registered editor. I don't know what to do. Please, advice. BTW, I am in the middle of two or three projects, including a potential FAC. A quick solution would be very helpful. Aditya(talk • contribs) 09:10, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
The block message says:
The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be an open proxy. To prevent abuse, these proxies may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you believe you are not running an open proxy, the most likely cause is that another customer from your ISP who was previously assigned this IP address was running an open proxy. If this is the case, please request to be unblocked using the {{unblock}} template, or request administrator attention using {{admin!}} and indicate you are caught by an open proxy block. More rarely, your network equipment or that of your service provider may be misconfigured or compromised by malicious software (such as a virus). In some cases, this can be remedied by logging into the secure server. For more information, see the Wikiproject on Open Proxies and Wikipedia:Open proxies. (Sandbox test edit)
Does this help?
Here is the unblock-auto template:

Decline reason: I can confirm that this is an open proxy. (I have successfully logged onto it myself.) If you are trying to edit Wikipedia via an open proxy then you need to stop doing so and edit directly instead. If you are not trying to edit via a proxy then it is possible that your computer has been compromised and is being used as a Zombie server, in which case you should get your computer checked for viruses and trojans as soon as possible. In either case, the IP address must remain blocked as long as it is running an open proxy. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:17, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
