Any idea if this is a reliable source? It's from dayoo.com, which I'm not familiar with; the first page of the article is here. Since it's about plastic surgery and stuff, I wanted to be careful about using it in any BLP articles; I considered posting at RS/N but figured most people there would not be able to read it. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 16:42, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Looking at Chinese numbered policies made me aware of a couple things that might make fun article projects. 四大件 and 四小花旦 both have articles on zh-wiki but not here. 四小花旦 might require a lot of research and digging around to find anything interesting to say other than "this is who they are", but 四大件 is probably pretty easily notable (I remember it from my 2nd-year Chinese textbook :P).
I also added a bit at the bottom of that article about numbers in chengyu. I don't have any sources handy; I have an old chengyu dictionary at home which might have some helpful stuff in its introduction (once I take the time to read it—I'm a slow reader in Chinese), but I won't be back there until early August. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 02:51, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

The Ürümqi Barn"star" | ||
Thanks for all your work maintaining the article July 2009 Ürümqi riots during its time on the main page. This has been a difficult and thankless task, working at a frenetic pace for 4 days straight so far (I, for one, have been getting very little sleep), and it's only been thanks to coordinated efforts and discussion from numerous editors that the article has been kept as neutral and informative as possible. This is the most collaboration I've done, with the largest number of editors once, since I have joined Wikipedia, and I think the results are showing; while it's not perfect, when my friends and family ask me about what's going on in Urumqi, I have been more comfortable recommending this article than any other source. The work is far from over, but now that this article is off the main page I think it's finally time to thank the editors Seb az86556, Colipon, Jim101, Ohconfucius, Benlisquare, Simonm223, and Jinhuili for all their contributions; while we had disagreements, I think each of these editors has been particularly active and has made real efforts to improve the article.rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 20:07, 9 July 2009 (UTC) |

Hi, Benlisquare. First, thanks for doing your patrol work. I wanted to remind you to be a little more careful when tagging articles for speedy deletion. You recently tagged Colin Sims for a G1 "patent nonsense/gibberish" speedy, but that's more for an article filled with random text. An A7 "fails WP:BIO" tag would have been the correct reason to speedy the page. I did delete the article, but it would be helpful to other admins if you're a little more careful in tagging these pages. Thanks again for your hard work. Parsecboy (talk) 11:35, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
You nominated this page for deletion, and per your comments, I speedied it. Next time that you nominate a Wikipedia: or Wikipedia talk: page, it should be listed at miscellany for deletion, since it's not an article. Nyttend (talk) 12:11, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I am aware that a lot of articles are quoting directly from the original, untranslated historical texts. I think most people are in agreement that this is not appropriate referencing, and good articles, such as the one on the Han Dynasty do not fall into that trap despite all that's been written on that subject over the ages. As a single person I cannot rectify every instance of WP:OR, and I admit it is often far easier to create your own interpretation than to dig around for good sources. Tagging all those articles with OR is probably too tedious and excessive, but I think replacing the primary reference cites with secondary sources is always a good thing. Hey Benlisquare,
While the IP editor here is clearly in the wrong and didn't have the right to undo the redirect, your edit summary was probably a bit over the top, especially considering that he didn't get a warning (as far as I can tell, unless you have reason to think this is a sock of an editor who has been involved in these articles before) explaining the AfD consensus. Of course, you know all this by now (and I've made the same mistake before too), but of course just try to remember not to let the stress get to you; this is one of those situations where if the IP keeps reverting then it will be clear who's violating consensus here, so you don't need to stress yourself out trying to stop him. For now, I've left him a message asking him to go to DRV if he has a problem with the way the AfDs for this article were carried out, and if the articles are reverted more without DRV then I'll protect them. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 15:15, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

I've immigrated out of the Fatherland since I was six, but I've noticed that Chinese seem to have a negative perception of the Ming and some even support the barbaric rule of the Yuan and Qing over the Ming. This is not only unjust but also a great insult to Chinese culture; if you have read the Ming article, you will notice that it is one of China's golden ages, perhaps the greatest one, better than even Han and Tang. If Ming had not been taken over by Manchu, perhaps it will be Anglo saxons immigrating to China rather than me immigrating out. Hi, Ben! Thanks for finding and tagging the articles belonging in scope of WikiProjects Russia and Soviet Union. I have a small favor to ask, though—when adding the tags, could you, please, spell out the names of the projects completely (i.e., use "WikiProject Russia" and "WikiProject Soviet Union", not WPRUSSIA and WPSU)? The reason for that is article alerts, which do not pick up pages tagged via redirects (which the abbreviations are). Thanks for the feedback. Well what I put is documented in the article itself but I understand that due to the current centre-right nature of the party this could have been polemic, but as the party actually had two phases dominated by two opposite international and political alignments I thought it was worthy of notice but I understand this may be misleading to people unacquainted with the issue but I thought it should be put to community experience beyond sandbox, so thank you for your feedback.
By the way do you have any knowledge on Kuomintang-related World League for Freedom and Democracy (the former World Anti-Communist League)? An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is 2009 Barack Obama visit to China. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2009 Barack Obama visit to China. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:08, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

I see that you have knowledge of Chinese weaponry. I recently created Xian H-6K. Do you know anything about this plane that could be added to the article? Do you think this new version is important and different enough to deserve its own article? (My impression is yes). Yes, I do want.
But it seemed like I'm not a frequent contributor in Wikipedia. I'm afraid that I can not do it.
First of all, it is a video taped with a cellphone-camera. The video clip is indeed my own work, because I lived there, as you may read about me at Ccyber5. I had attempted to have my video converted into .ogv format, but I didn't have an available software on my PC. So I captured some snapshots from the clip, and made them a montage-image through Photoshop. If you don't trust me, you can see this video , which is the orginal work on my flickr, where I've also uploaded an variant montage. My flick account is ccyber3. ps: I failed many times previously when I attempted to upload my variant work (vertical montage) onto either the Commons or Wikipedia because of unknown reason (probably GFW). Thank you for your attention! Ccyber5 (talk) 14:50, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your message. I have not seen any news (and couldn't find any) regarding this "variant" from the Chinese side. Also, I believe that the H6 is still currently in service as the leading PLAA’s "Strategic bomber." In the age of ICBMs & Cruise Missiles, I don't see why the PLAA would outfit another, brand new aircraft to carry just the CJ10 where the current H6s are perfectly up for the task. If the “variant” contains very little modification, I would think the current H6 page can be expanded to be added with the additional information. I believe a merge (H6K ---> H6) is gonna take place soon unless there is additional information, outlining a significant difference between the 2. TheAsianGURU (talk) 19:58, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up about the article, it's interesting stuff. The "common usage" section of the table looked redundant to me so I BOLDly went ahead and got rid of it (it seemed to be doing nothing other than show which of the other columns was used more, so I figured it could be replaced by something like color—assuming that doesn't cause WP:ACCESS problems). But there's always a chance I was misunderstanding what that bit meant, so feel free to undo it if that was wrong.
By the way, if you're interested and have an opinion would you like to comment on the Urumqi riots FAC (here)? I remember you've been active at the talk page before, but haven't edited the article itself a lot, so I don't think it would be unfair or anything.

Benlisquare,
I apologize in advance if I am not following all protocols with your Talk page, but I am relatively new to Wikipedia and am not completely familiar with certain things like how to best communicate on the Talk pages and the different users who contribute to them. Since you clearly are an expert in this area, please help me correct whatever issues I need to do in the future.
As far as your concerns/comments, as well as those of others, I am a bit surprised. I created the page on The Arena because I am an avid follower of MMA and The Arena is one of the fastest growing MMA teams in the country and deserves inclusion in Wikipedia on these merits. Particularly given the fact that many of the MMA teams listed in Wikipedia are no longer as notable as The Arena is because the sport is so dynamic and much of the information regarding these teams and their fighters is non-current. Also, my interest in The Arena and its fighters qualifies me as a supporter of the gym/team, not as a conflict of interest.
As far as how I set up the page and what I included, I attempted to follow the format used for the other MMA team pages included in Wikipedia so The Arena MMA page would best fit in. So, if The Arena MMA page is promotional, then I imagine the other MMA team pages should be included in that category as well.
As far as verification of The Arena and its athletes...
1. The team is young and most newspapers do not cover much of MMA. In fact, I honestly do not think newspapers qualify as a reliable source for MMA info as much is reformatted from other sources. However, having said that, you can find recent mention of The Arena and its team members like Olympic Silver Medalist Stephen Abas at the following locations, among others.
http://www.fresnobee.com/2010/04/07/1887820/ex-dog-abas-sets-mma-dates-at.html
Additionally, I have included several other online mentions of The Arena from sites that are more relevant to MMA such as:
http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=news.detail&gid=228200
http://www.mmamania.com/2010/4/2/1402864/2004-olympic-silver-medalist
http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Olympic-Silver-Medalist-Abas-Signs-with-Tachi-Palace-Fights-23624
http://www.doseofmma.com/3700/rani-yahya-constrictor-bjj-hl/
http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles/12-Questions-for-Cris-Cyborg-Santos-22251
2. There are also numerous videos available online of various fighters representing The Arena during their fights, notably Diego Sanchez (who has The Arena logo on his shorts, shirt, and banner) during his most recent fight against BJ Penn on 12/12/2009, as well as Cris "Cyborg" Santos during her last Strikeforce title defense against Marloes Coenen on 1/30/2010. These fights can be found online. Additionally, the UFC Countdown Video Segment for Diego Sanchez that was aired nationally on Spike TV prior to the fight was conducted at The Arena and clearly showed The Arena in the segment.
3. There are also other videos available on The Arena's website itself, as well as YouTube, from third parties such as Bad Boy Brands that show fighters such as Demian Maia (UFC) and Diego Sanchez (UFC) training at The Arena. These videos can be found here at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHEXvWGfnYA&NR=1 and: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy1VNA7YLWQ and: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx3IXyqXiLI
Additionally, there are videos actually produced by The Arena that clearly show Fabricio Camoes (UFC), Rodrigo Nogueira (UFC), Rani Yahya (WEC), Royler Gracie (4x BJJ world champ), Joe Duarte (Bellator), etc. training at The Arena. These videos are located at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xrUSGWN0BA and: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_lI8tccuxw
4. Finally, both mixedmartialarts.com (the official resource for all MMA fighter records) and sherdog.com (the largest, most recognized, and one of the oldest MMA sites in existence) has The Arena listed as an offical team. You can find the links here at:
http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=home.link and:
These two sites are tightly controlled and will not allow links to team sites that are not official and recognizable.
Given all this evidence that you can judge for yourself if you take the time to visit all the sites I have provided, particularly the online video locations (seeing is believing), I cannot understand how anyone could not regard The Arena MMA page as legitimate, as well as the actual gym itself.
I don't know how much the Wikipedia members who commented on the legitimacy of The Arena MMA page actually know about the sport of MMA, but there is absolutely no way these types of MMA athletes would be involved with The Arena if it was not 100% legitimate and deserving of recognition. Even independent Yelp reviewers mention this fact (see here at: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-arena-mma-san-diego
Please let me know how to best improve the page if it actually needs to be improved given all the documentation I have just provided. Additionally, please share this information with the other Wikipedia members who made comments on the Talk Page as I am unsure how to communicate with everyone simulataneously.
Thank You,
mmasource —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmasource (talk • contribs) 05:53, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Ok, so I think I am getting a little better at understanding the talk page concept. Additionally, I have gone through and placed several 3rd party verification sources on the actual The Arena MMA page indicating why it is noteworthy.
Also, as I mentioned, I don't know if any of the admins are fans of MMA and know the names and notoriety of the fighters who train at The Arena, but the fact that they do train there (proven by the video links I provided) is illustrative of why The Arena Gym / Team is noteworthy.
Finally, I read your message to Rjanag on his TP and I know you are busy, so I hope he gets a chance to read my detailed explanation on why The Arena MMA page is valid and that he actually checks out the links and the content contained there for himself. I also hope you get a chance to go through it yourself when you get a chance so you know what I am referencing. Thanks. Mmasource (talk) 09:04, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

I have edited, but I also discussed it with the parties involved. Contradictory articles are not good for anyone. You guys are talking about superior race idea, Koreans after WWII would only continue to believe they are superior if they thought they were the progenitors of Japan. Remember this concept was from Japan in the 20th century according to the article. no Superior race would think they were a subordinate and still think they were superior. By adding these archeological finds we can at least make the article seem logical as to why they feel superior. --Objectiveye (talk) 08:19, 17 August 2010 (UTC) Also I was adding why I voted to delete, without being able to explain why, why would you vote a certain way --Objectiveye (talk) 08:21, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Let me just say that I will not intervene in this article after the deletion discussion. Benlisquare did a relatively good "chemo therapy". I just have an uneasy spot in discussion with depressing historical facts that plague Asia or the whole world. (It is) Not that I'm a minority of hardcore Korean nationalist. No harm done. It is a sensitive subject so I think it is wiser to put a notice in the article. Komitsuki (talk) 14:44, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi!
I just to wanted to let you know that I tried many times to post the information pertaining to the separate evolutionary lineage of the Han Chinese on the Han Chinese article page as was recommended to me. Unfortunately I have encountered a few users who are trying to suppress this information from being posted on the page. They obviously are trying to push the "politically correct" POV that "all humans are descended from the common black African Ancestor" despite the DNA and morphological evidence showing that to be untrue. Violating users: Multivariable continually reverts my edits and Jayron32 has illegally "protected" the page in an attempt to keep others from posting the peer reviewed scientifically proven information about the separate evolution of Han Chinese from Homo Pekinensis. Please advise on how to deal with these people.
Best Regards! Thanks! --72.215.69.43 (talk) 04:30, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi-There are some problems with your reversal, first of all, there are over 5 links that are redirects, so those won't show on the navbox when on the corresponding pgs. I also was ordering the box both chronologically and alphabetically. The problems with piping the links are that some of the meanings may be obscured. Hi, Benlisquare. I am not sure who wrote "Note: Namebox is for languages that name the sea as a translation of "South China Sea" only. For alternate names, such as "East Sea", other translations are provided in the main article body. Do not include them here." Is this a discussed consensus? Thanks for your input to the article on the miraculous ancient supernatural meat/fungus/slime which makes people beautiful and cures illnesses. I have !voted to keep the article. It is difficult to keep track of other editors' comments, that is who said what, when the signature of more than one is is some pictograms which have no meaning to the reader. If you would add a name in Latin characters to your signature, it would be a help to those of us with no knowledge of Chinese, although you are quite welcome to go on using pictograms alone as your signature. It just makes it hard for some of us to keep straight "Symbol-symbol-symbol" versus a different "Symbol-symbol-symbol" when two such signatures appear in a thread. Thanks again. While I definitely think that we're not getting anywhere with User:HighSpeed-X, I don't believe that is appropriate to call him/her a Hikokimori or NEET. There are many other reasons why xe might be able to write on Wikipedia at this hour. Yes, xe will almost certainly be blocked indefinitely if hey keep up the current attitude. But that shouldn't give you license to attack him and impugn not only his employment status, but, ultimately, his motivations and psychological state. Such an attack is guaranteed to remove any shred of hope of this person ever editing Wikpedia per policy, and possibly galvanize his/her desire to continue being disruptive. I personally think it would be appropriate for you to redact, remove, or apologize for those attacks. Thanks. Qwyrxian (talk) 04:30, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

The process of mediation is voluntary and focuses exclusively on the content issues over which there is disagreement. For an explanation of what formal mediation is, see Wikipedia:Mediation Committee/Policy.
