My name is David Alves (User:Horadrim~usurped), and I'm an Wikipedian in Residence at RIDC NeuroMat (User:Horadrim). I've reach your contact through the Wikimedian in residence page in Outreach. As you may know, Wikimania 2017 is coming! I am here because, as a fellow WiR, I believe this would be a great opportunity for us to share experiences, discuss difficulties and exchange solutions, creating a community among us capable of supporting in other projects that would benefit from residents. Hello fellow project participants. Not sure how many users are still active as normal Wikipedia editors but felt the need to attempt to get a gauge on who can be called on for help with articles falling under the umbrella of the African diaspora project. According to the project's article table there are over six thousand articles related to the African diaspora; there's not a hundred at FA/GA grade and there's over twelve hundred that are unassessed. With Wikipedia being one of the major information reference points in the world today we should consider this unacceptable. Much work needs to be done on the rating of the importance of articles as well. With more communication amongst participants and a dedication to addressing the articles on the to-do list I believe we can make this WikiProject one of the most well organized and thorough on the site. If you are interested in collaborative work with some of your fellow project members, have certain expertise on any particular subjects, ideals on/about the WikiProject, etc. simply drop your name under the "Project revision" section I've created on the project's talk page and state your intentions and main points of interest in our WikiProject and we can attempt to move forward from there. Hi Missvain. I recently acted upon this undeletion request, undeleting the page history of Delilah W. Pierce, which was required to be undeleted under copyright, as a source of merged content. As I noted in the undeletion request, based on your response here to Christian75 and then not undeleting the page history, it appears the copyright issue was not understood.
The heart of our copyright licenses is suitable credit to the authors and copyright owners of our content – which is not owned by Wikipedia or the Wikimedia foundation – but by us, the editors who add content. So when content is merged (or copying of any stripe is done: generic copying, splits, translations from foreign language Wikipedia articles, etc.) the requirement is that you leave an edit summary stating what you've done, and providing a hyperlink to the source of the merged content, where the page history is available for credit to the authors. Please see generally Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and specifically here, Wikipedia:Merging#How to merge.
In this case, after merging the content into the target page without attribution in the edit summary, you deleted the source page with the edit summary "deleting after merge into duplicate article", and then recreated is as a redirect, sans its page history. That edit summary essentially flags the issue I'm here about, since it near perfectly describes the creating of a copyright violation. You cannot delete the page history of the source page upon a merge, because its page history, listing the copyright owners, is exactly what must be retained for copyright attribution under our licenses (there is an exception: such a deletion does not create a copyright violation so long as you list all the authors – but this is rarely done and rarely would be easier, unless there was only a very few authors). See also {{R from merge}}, which is added to redirects created upon merges for the chief purpose of flagging "this page's history must not be deleted, because it is where the attribution for the merged content is located".
As noted, since you must provide copyright attribution in the edit summary when you perform the merge, I have repaired the copyright attribution in the merged target in this edit.
I've read this post over and I know: it's a lecture. I'm sorry about that. But copyright is so important; is certainly slippery if you're not immersed in it; and administrators performing deletions need to be aware of these issues. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Hi,
I noticed that you previously added to the Laura Alber article. I actually just did a re-draft to turn the stub into a full article. However, I have a conflict of interest as a paid consultant. So, under Wikipedia policy WP:COI, I need someone independent to review the suggested re-draft and approve/edit it, rather than just make the changes myself.
Since you seem to have an interest in women in business, I thought you might volunteer yourself? :) I am a pretty experienced Wikipedia editor, and tried to write this article like any other, so I think it won't take too much of of your time.

You are violating WP:POV by enforcing your own point of view of neutrality in this article. Enough credible sources have been provided for the controversy that this person was involved in and a simple google is enough to show tons of references supporting this. So please stop vandalizing this page without sufficient counter references. Hi Missvain, I recently created this account but have edited anonymously a few times in the past. I am trying to refine a page about a living architect, which has been tagged for promotional language - Sheila Sri Prakash. She has been recognized as the first woman architect in india to independently start her own office and is an alumnus of the college where I am studying my BArch. We have a student club for women students in architecture and we discuss topics that are important for us to succeed in our profession. We frequently discuss her work, and we also study examples of her approach to architecture. I have also attended one guest lecture by her on campus last year. Some how her article appears to be under controversy but she seems like a very kind and humble person. She interacted with all students and gave us a lot of help. This controversy may be due to a lot of jealousy for her awards and because of bias against women leaders in general. Many members of the women in my architecture student club are having strong feeling about supporting our role model and would like to help remedy this article. Would you kindly help guide us and give us your advice about how we can improve it to remove the tags for deletion/unreliable sources/promotional language? When you accept drafts, especially if you're accepting dozens in a row, it would be very helpful if you made sure to give them a rating (stub/start/etc) and tag with relevant WikiProjects. Not sure if you have any interest in this, but I've created some new stubs for sculptures in the National Statuary Hall Collection. It'd be nice to have a complete set of articles, but I'm especially hoping to see new stubs for statues of women and indigenous people. Hi there, I saw that you recently put yourself up as a member of the Bay Area taskforce. I am currently undergoing the huge task of re-doing the Bay Area article, that is, citing all sources, restructuring the page to match the organizational norms of GA and FA cities and regions, and getting rid of unsourceable passages and fluff. Hey, saw you created a couple of wildfire articles. The ones that are making the most local news are the ones where there are evacuation orders or threats to structures, and right now that's the Strawberry Fire (Montana) that just blew up big time yesterday, expanding by another 1000 acres. (Not to be confused with the one last year in Nevada). Some sources call it the Strawberry Creek Fire, but not Inciweb... anyway, sources include , . The other ones are all the ones up the Kootenai by Libby, Not sure if the Highway 200 Complex includes or excludes the others burning nearby such as Gibralter Ridge or not. I'm afraid that I have to call attention to a minor problem with some of your recent edits to articles on US politicians, e.g. Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse, who're on my watchlist. When adding citations, you've used the DMY date format (4 July 1776). This was not consistent with the prevailing date format used in either article: in Fischer, yyyy-mm-dd (1776-07-04); in Sasse, MDY (July 4, 1776). Per MOS:DATEUNIFY, publication dates, and access/archive dates in citations should all use the same format.
DMY should generally be avoided in articles on American subjects, since per MOS:DATETIES, dates used in most articles with a strong connection to the US should use MDY. Unfortunately, until relatively recently the examples in the documentation at Template:Cite web all used DMY, which may have given some editors the mistaken impression that it was WP's house style.
