Hello Shaun. Was just stopping by to elaborate on what I had written at your recent request for Rollback. I see that you have set up an archive :) There is a way to have one of our bots do it automatically for you also. You decide on the length of time and how much you want each archive to hold and it does the rest. Let me know if you have any questions about it or take a look at the edit screen of a user with an archive. Also if you have any questions or concerns with my response at your request please feel free to ask either here or at my talk page. It had more to do with not seeing any communication interaction than with archiving itself (ie. blanking without response rather than blanking after resolved). Does that make sense? Take care. Hello. The Crusader Kings 2 entry has a GLARING error. All I tried to do was correct the error. The people editing the page, and deleting my correction HAVE NEVER PLAYED THE GAME (I assume).
You CAN convert to play as a Muslim faction in the original CK2, even without the sword of Islam expansion.
Ok? I'm going to edit the page again (for the third time) I admit my second edit was a bit sarcastic and I'm sorry for that, but it's irritating to have people who have never played the game writing information about it it which is untrue, and then deleting my edit when I was only trying to help and correct them. If you're inclined to deleted my correct again, please do some research on the subject first and learn that I'm right and you're wrong. Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roman Rapper (talk • contribs) 20:19, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Hey Shaun. I'm dropping you a note because you used to (or still do!) patrol new pages. This is just to let you know that we've deployed and developed Page Curation, which augments and supersedes Special:NewPages - there are a lot of interesting new features :). There's some help documentation here if you want to familiarise yourself with the system and start using it. If you find any bugs or have requests for new features, let us know here. Thanks! You labelled this as "Confusing" with reason "In particular, Needs Info box and picture."
No article "needs" either a picture or an infobox, though many can benefit from one or the other. A stub, by definition, is an article which needs further expansion, whether of text, images, infobox etc. The text of the article was not confusing but made perfect sense: it needed to be split into paragraphs for readability, but that doesn't count as "confusing". Please be more careful before assigning inappropriate tags. If you want to suggest that the article would benefit from an infobox and a picture, the article talk page would be a more appropriate place. Thanks. PamD 11:37, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Shaun
Thanks for taking the time to review and comment on my revised article for creation about SIRCA.
I appreciate your comments and kind words about how it was well written.
I've removed all references to the SIRCA website (sirca.org.au) and feel all statements are now verified by a number of very credible sources such as the Australian Governments key regulatory bodies in financial services: ASIC as well as Australia's Central Bank: the RBA and the US stock market NASDAQ-OMX; leading universities including the University of Sydney.
I modeled the article creation on a peer organisation - another Australian non-profit in a different space - bio-science who also provide global services (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAMBIA). In the article outlining their organisation, I count 6 of the 8 references substantiating their content refer to their website - which is where i started with the SIRCA article and have now removed all direct references to the SIRCA website.
I'm by no means an expert wikipedian but have made substantial contributions in the early days to articles on architecture, parklands and community in and around New South Wales.
I'm a bit at a loss as to what to do now but would welcome any suggestions - or perhaps reconsideration?
best regards
Paul

Once again you got it wrong. Go back and look at the content of the changes. Ever heard of reverting vandalism? It's exempt from 3RR. In fact, while you were issuing another bad warning, I was reporting the vandal.2001:558:6045:A0:391F:B005:179D:8DD9 (talk) 23:58, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
On that note... in the lead of the house music article, user 2001:[...]8DD9 was indeed correctly reverting vandalism, and you should not have undone his edit. There is a persistent problem with that article, where (presumably) naïve fans of house music are shocked to learn of its origins in the gay and mixed clubs of early/mid-'80s Chicago; they make very sloppy edits in an attempt to remove that info, often butchering the references in the process. We do need to edit the article to move that info into the body of the article, but it's nevertheless correct and very well cited as it stands, so please keep an eye out for this when patrolling that article. Thanks! —mjb (talk) 03:45, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
I should probably log in (and maybe will the next time I edit) but I'm a casual Wikipedia user who loves Cloud Atlas, both the book and the movie. If you've read the book and seen the movie, you'd know that there are many significant changes between the two. I would like to ask you to please not change back the edit I made saying Robert Frobisher is gay, not bisexual. I already started a discussion about this in the talk section of the page; if you would like to discuss this further there, I'd be more than happy to, but for now, the bearing of proof is needed that Robert Frobisher is bisexual before it is included in the movie's page.
One of the biggest changes in the second storyline about Robert Frobisher and Vyvyan Ayrs is that Robert Frobisher no longer shows any sexual interest in women. The lengthy romantic passages about Jocasta in the book are replaced by a single comment on Jocasta in which Frobisher says he doesn't understand women and doesn't find them appealing (I can find the quote if you like). Also omitted in the movie is the entire character of Eva, who Robert Frobisher falls in love with, and added to the movie are two scenes suggesting that Frobisher has developed feelings for Vyvyan Ayrs (although that may be a ploy of his, we don't know).
This implication is important because while the book focuses on themes of power and repeating mistakes, the movie squarely focuses on the idea that there is a natural order to the world and certain people are trying to upend it. THIS is why the directors made Frobisher gay instead of bisexual--because otherwise, he'd seem "iffy" about upending the social order and more like the scumish sleazebag character he is in the book. Although he has sex with a woman in the movie, yes, he says quite plainly that he doesn't enjoy it.
If nothing else, just trust me as an avid David Mitchell fan who has already seen the movie twice and plans to see it a third time tonight: Robert Frobisher in the book is bisexual, but in the movie, he is gay. I can probably provide the specific quote from the movie indicating his distaste for sex with women, if needed.
Sincerely, A huge Cloud Atlas fan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.182.108.28 (talk) 20:00, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Greetings,
I'm an avid fan of the film Cloud Atlas--seen it three times, read the book too. I'm unsure if it is you who keeps changing the plot of Cloud Atlas to say Robert Frobisher is bisexual instead of gay or if it's just this one bot, but if it is you as well, I'd like to ask you to stop. In the book, he is bisexual. However, in the movie, he is intentionally changed to being strictly gay as that more clearly reflects the theme of "upending the social order." His distaste for sex with women is made clear by the voiceover he gives in the film while having sex with Jocasta. In it, he tells Sixsmith not to worry because "it is only a carnal duty performed in service" and compares it to being Vyvyan Ayrs' apprentice. He goes on to say that "women's hearts, like their desires, remain a mystery to me," further emphasizing his lack of understanding of heterosexual love.
Please, before you make any changes back, see the discussion on the "Talk" page for Cloud Atlas, or at least comment there before you revert any changes back.
All the best,
cat spasms
Greetings.
About the revert you made on my edit about the FPS game Crossfire, from what I read, it actually is 1.2 TB because of the game itself, and the updates it gets. And when I installed it on my 2tb HDD, it DID take 1 TB away from space (just about). If you make any changes back, please look on Google (not trying to be sarcastic.)
Good luck,

Shaun9876, I am curious why you reverted the edits I performed on the PolitiFact page. The rewording of the statement of Dr. Ostermeier's numbers was both clearer after my revision and also lacked grammatically suspect starting of a sentence with numerals. I also added Ostermeier's conclusion, verbatim, after having another editor undo an edit in which I paraphrased Dr. Ostermeier's conclusion. As I explained in the "talk" section for that page, the section as-is misleads the reader regarding the content of Dr. Ostermeier's study if it omits mention of selection bias. Currently the Wikipedia article fills the need for that aspect of misleading content perfectly. If you do not care for my edits, then how do you propose to remedy the problem with the current version of the entry? Something must be said about selection bias if Ostermeier's study is to figure in the section. I'd appreciate an explanation. Zebrafactcheck (talk) 08:45, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Hello Shaun9876. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know however, that tagging articles for speedy deletion moments after creation as lacking context (CSD A1), content (CSD A3) and articles created through the Article Wizard, is too fast. You taggedSong-in my mother's eyes the same minute it was created. New users often put in a few words and then press "Save page" to see how it looks: it's WP:BITEy and discouraging if a speedy-deletion notice pops up at once. It's best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), pure vandalism (G3), and copyright violations (G12) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. JohnCD (talk) 18:35, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Shaun9876, I noticed you gave this anonymous user and repeat offender a harsh warning for vandalism made to this page. However, their edit was in good faith and was not vandalism at all, in fact the consensus on the talk page is that it should be kept the way they made it ('Let's Get Retarded'), and not the way you reverted it back to ('Let's Get It Started'). Easy to see how you assumed it was vandalism, especially due to the user's history, however they did not deserve that warning on this occassion. —Limabeans 10:45, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
Hey all :).
I'm dropping you a note because you've been involved in dealing with feedback from the Article Feedback Tool. To get a better handle on the overall quality of comments now that the tool has become a more established part of the reader experience, we're undertaking a round of hand coding - basically, taking a sample of feedback and marking each piece as inappropriate, helpful, so on - and would like anyone interested in improving the tool to participate :).
You can code as many or as few pieces of feedback as you want: this page should explain how to use the system, and there is a demo here. Once you're comfortable with the task, just drop me an email atokeyeswikimedia.org and I'll set you up with an account :).
If you'd like to chat with us about the research, or want live tutoring on the software, there will be an office hours session on Monday 17 December at 23:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office connect. Hope to see some of you there! Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:58, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome. I am however an old user around wikipedia. -R.Arden (talk) 15:46, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
I removed the term "creation theory" from the opening description of this article. Reason being, because as Christians we do not believe that Creation is a myth, but rather a fact. I find this offensive to have this term listed in the description of Adam and Eve. Furthermore, there is no reason to place the "creation myth" line in the opening as it is irrelevant to the topic. Simply saying "according to Abrahamic religion..." is enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by64.211.68.212 (talk) 16:51, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
Please check the talk page and history of an article such as Pungo, Virginia before reverting it based on a false-positive from an automated wiki tool. Thanks.96.238.74.96 (talk) 08:00, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi. You reverted my edit, [1] saying youtube isn't a credible source. The actual source was a Boganmania interview with 3 members of the Angels 100%, the first 5 minutes or so discussing how Jim Hilbun came up with the Angels 100% name. It is posted in the Angels 100% channel on Youtube, and on the boganmania channel.[2] The "source" is 3 current members of the Angels 100% band, in an interview on December 15, 2012. That copy of the interview just happens to be posted on Youtube..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by115.64.14.164 (talk) 02:56, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
I guess, then its credible, but keep in mind that generally it isn't. (Sorry for the late reply) §haun 9∞76 ༆ 01:25, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi. I just wanted to let you know that it was a good faith edit to request a Romanization of the ROK Pledge. The request had been sitting on the TALK page for a couple of months with no activity. How else to get someone to contribute that section? (No need to reply; kind of rhetorical.) Thanks! AdderUser (talk) 12:45, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

In your last question on the Usernames unit, you asked me to identify which usernames would be considered disruptive. Do you mean disruptive as in a username that falls under the category of "Disruptive or offensive usernames" on WP:U, or do you mean any username deemed Inappropriate on WP:U? Hi Shaun,
I am contacting you because I was looking for an Administrator interested in vandalism, and after looking at various people thought you might be interested in listening to me and perhaps helping.
I have been a member of Wikipedia since 2010, and I have made hundreds of edits for articles, such as corrections and to add additional information.
However, until recently, I had never participated in any of the Talk or Afd sections. Wikipedia wasn't my hobby, but I used it regularly for reading.
Recently I received some messages via a Yahoo group that told about an individual who had a Wikipedia article written about him, Steve Cottle, and that a close personally friend had decided to see to it that it be deleted.
This seemed odd, and I wondered about possible jealousy and a likely conflict of interest.
Seeing others respond to Mr. Cottle with a sense of floundering, I posted a message at the Yahoo group about the problem.
I didn't know Mr. Cottle personally, but I knew very well who he was. I'd read many messages of his, had visited his archive of newspaper comic strips and found it invaluable, and had even independently discovered the article about him, had downloaded it on Jan. 9th and found it interesting and informative.
Since I knew who he was and why he was notable, I thought I'd look into the matter. I interviewed him extensively using a text chat with transcripts saved, and discovered he was actually text chatting with his friend at the very time that he (samrolken) had initiated an Articles for deletion action at Wikipedia.
A chat transcript confirmed samrolken's explanations for this action (the Afd) and the nature of the interaction, which seemed quite antagonistic towards Mr. Cottle, his friend, ridiculing him and calling him names.
I did some research and found this:
"'You should not create or edit articles about ... your close friends. ... You should also not write about people with whom you could reasonably be said to have an antagonistic relationship in real life.'"
Wikipedia:Conflict of interest - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest
and this
"Wikipedia:Vandalism
"Abuse of tags
"Bad-faith placing of non-content tags such as {afd} ... or other tags on pages that do not meet such criteria."
This seemed like a serious Conflict of Interest which samrolken should not have engaged in according to the guidelines I read, which are designed to ensure editing is done with neutrality and impartiality, which under the circumstances I described, is highly suspect. Deleting is a form of editing.
I entered a Keep comment, which an editor MrX, suppressed.
MrX also criticized me substantially and declined to do anything about this reported COI.
Since things went so adversely, I declined to participate any further in the Afd and cancelled my plans to enter more Keep comments.
samrolken eventually posted on my Talk page, and I tried to engage with him, but he refused to acknowledge or discuss the COI, though he admitted they were close personal friends.
I suggested withdrawing the Afd and continuing the discussion on my talk page, but he was adamant on getting things his way, which I felt was highly improper.
In a 2nd post on my talk page, he closed with "... I'll not be interacting with you any more."
Later, he sent an email letter to Mr. Cottle, then invaded the chat room where Mr. Cottle and I had a chat scheduled. samrolken parked himself and refused to leave, preventing me from talking privately with Mr. Cottle.
When we were alone, samrolken, insulted me repeatedly, taunted me, called me names, and dared me to do anything.
He soon invaded a Yahoo group by joining it and posting a lengthy message there, which annoying the owner, who revoked Mr. Cottle's moderator rights as a result.
At another Yahoo group, a member alerted me that samrolken was trying to delete articles that I had simply edited.
And I discovered that samrolken had indeed initiated an Afd for the article Russell R. Winterbotham, a published science fiction author.
This seemed like harrassment and retaliation.
My sense is there is a clique of people and samrolken feels untouchable, and he could care less what certain people think about the ethics of his actions.
He has a displayed a clearcut malevolence, and based on how I've been treated, have no interest in either intervening in these two Afds, nor doing any more article editing for Wikipedia.
Please note that I have documented two published articles about author Russell R. Winterbotham on my Talk page; they are from physical books called encyclopedias.
In my opinion, samrolken is simply engaging in vandalism, and that seems unethical to me.
Despite samrolken's taunts (transcript kept), I do hope there is at least one honest person within the Wikipedia community that might be concerned and want to do something about it.
I hope you are one such person.
Thanks kindly for considering my words. Drhankh (talk) 20:55, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

First off, glad to see you back! :) Secondly, I have to inform you: For the past month or so, and for the next month or so, I have been and will continue to be on what is currently an unofficial WikiBreak. The reason for this is that I have been working on school work for this time as well as studying for my AP tests, which are in May; thus, I have little time to do things other than study and can only occasionally check my talk page or look at my (bloated) Watchlist. I do not have time to vandal patrol, and the time required to take the final exam would only be available to me during weekends. As a result of this, I would like to request you not monitor my progress until some time after May 15th (the date of my last AP test). Any time after May 15th would work for me, and I would very much appreciate it if you would accept this request. Thank you. Greengreengreenred 22:44, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Hey Shaun :). I'm dropping you a note because you have signed up for the Notifications, or Echo, newsletter.
If all goes according to plan, we should be launching Echo on en-wiki either tomorrow, or next Tuesday - I'll drop a followup tomorrow when we know what's happening. Should the launch succeed, we'll begin the process of triaging bugs and gathering feedback on what features work, what cause problems, and what we should do next; I hope you'll help us out on these fronts by leaving any comments you might have on the talkpage.
Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:04, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
