Đỗ Hùng Dũng (IPA: [ɗŏˀ hùŋm zŭˀŋm], born 8 September 1993) is a Vietnamese professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for V.League 1 club Hà Nội and captains the Vietnam national team.[2][3][4][5]

Early life
Đỗ Hùng Dũng was born in Yên Viên town, Hanoi, Vietnam.[6][7][8] When he was 9 years old, Hùng Dũng showed early signs of his talent for playing football. However, his father repeatedly opposed his decision to pursue a career as a footballer.[9] Despite this, Hùng Dũng's mother supported his dream.[10] Eventually, with the consent of his entire family, he joined the Hanoi talent class.[2]
Club career
Hanoi FC
Do Hung Dung was associated with the Hanoi FC from the age of 17 after attending the club's development centre in Gia Lam. In 2015, he joined V.League 2 club Saigon FC on a season-long loan.
On 11 December 2023, Do Hung Dung signed a contract extension, keeping him at Hanoi until 2026.[11]
In the 2017 AFC Cup, Hùng Dũng scored 4 goals,[12] becoming the second-highest scoring player for Hà Nội FC (formerly known as Hà Nội T&T) in the tournament after Văn Quyết.[13][14] He was selected by sports website Fox Sports to the 2017 AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal Team of the Group Stage.[15][16][17]
At the 2019 AFC Cup group stage, Hanoi FC set a new record for the biggest win in the tournament's history by thrashing NagaWorld FC 10-0.[18][19] Đỗ Hùng Dũng scored the goal that made it 5-0 in this historic victory.[20]

International career

In 2012, Đỗ Hùng Dũng was called up by coach Hoàng Văn Phúc to join the U-19 Vietnam national team participating in the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship.[21][22]
In 2014, Do Hung Dung was added to the list of the Vietnam U-23 national team by head coach Miura Toshiya to participate in the Asian Games and the AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers.[23][24] In 2022, Do Hung Dung officially returned and wore the captain's armband for the Vietnam U23 national team to compete in the 31st SEA Games.[25][26][27]
Personal life
Do Hung Dung married Trieu Moc Trinh on 24 April 2019.[28] On 29 October 2019, the couple had their first child, a son named Gia Bao.[29]
