The 2019–20 season was Carlisle United's 115th season in their history and their sixth consecutive season in League Two.[3] Along with League Two, the club also participated in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy.

FA Cup
The first round draw was made on 21 October 2019.[10] The second round draw was made live on 11 November from Chichester City's stadium, Oaklands Park.[11] The third round draw was made live on BBC Two from Etihad Stadium, where Micah Richards and Tony Adams conducted the draw.[12]
