The 2024–25 DPR Korea Premier Football League is the 65th season of DPR Korea Premier Football League, the top-flight football in North Korea and the third season since the reformation of the league's structure in 2022–23. The season began on 1 December 2024[1] and will conclude sometime in 2025.
The defending champions are Ryomyong, who secured the title in the 2023–24 season.[2]
In the previous 2023–24 edition, Kyonggongopsong were relegated from the DPR Korea Premier League, while Paekkumsan were promoted to the 2024–25 season from the second tier.
The competition is divided into three stages. The first stage began on 1 December 2024, with matches played at Kim Il Sung Stadium and Sosan Stadium.
After the first stage, April 25 leads the standings, with Sobaeksu and Ryomyong emerging as their toughest rivals.[3]
Throughout the season, several teams have competed fiercely not only in the DPR Korea Premier Football League but also in other competitions such as the 14th People's Games. Notably, Sonbong and Amnokgang faced each other multiple times, with Amnokgang winning earlier encounters 1–0 and 4–2, while Sonbong secured a 3–0 victory in a later second round league match. These repeated meetings highlight the competitive balance within the league, where there are no clear weak teams and results remain unpredictable. As one local resident observed, it has been difficult to predict match outcomes due to missed opportunities and fluctuating performances, emphasizing the need for teams to improve shooting accuracy and cooperation.[4]
