Development
In mid-April 2023, it was reported that Selvaraghavan is gearing up to direct a sequel to his blockbuster romantic drama 7G Rainbow Colony,[2] with Ravi Krishna making a comeback after 12 years to reprise his role as Kadhir from the previous film.[3] Selvaraghavan's frequent collaborator Yuvan Shankar Raja was roped in to score the music[4] while Ramji was assigned to handle the cinematography.[5]
The 2004 film had Sonia Agarwal as Anitha as the female lead,[6] but in late July 2023 it was reported that Aditi Shankar and Ivana were approached for the lead role.[7] By late-August 2023, it was confirmed that Anaswara Rajan who last appeared in Raangi (2022) and Thugs (2023) was selected to portray the lead role.[8][9] The film also stars Suman Setty and Sudha as Lakshmi Narayanan and Kadhir's mother respectively, reprising their roles from the previous film.[10] Jayaram was cast to play an important role, hence Anaswara Rajan and Jayaram are teaming up after they both were seen in Abraham Ozler.[11]
Filming
Principal photography was reported to begin by the last week of August 2023.[12] The makers released the official first look poster on January 1st, 2025 to convey that 7G Rainbow Colony 2 was in final stages of shooting.[13]
Music
The soundtrack and background is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja in his fourth collaboration with Ravi Krishna after 7G Rainbow Colony (2004), Kedi (2006), Aaranya Kaandam (2010)[14] and ninth with Selvaraghavan.[15][a]
The album features 3 songs, one of which is sung by Super Singer fame Srinidhi Sriprakash.[16] [17]
