Carex aematorhyncha (common name: blood beak sedge)[1] is a species of flowering plant in the sedge family, Cyperaceae, native to South America.[2] It was first formally named in 1854 in the sixth volume of Flora Chilena.[3][4]
Two varieties are accepted:[2]
- Carex aematorhyncha var. aematorhyncha Desv.
- Carex aematorhyncha var. corralensis (Phil.) Kük.

Distribution and habitat
The species is endemic to Central and southern Chile to the Falkland Islands.[5]
