8world News, Mediacorp's Chinese digital portal, offers breaking news, current affairs, and lifestyle content across multiple platforms.[1] It is produced by Mediacorp's Chinese News and Current Affairs department, which also creates programming for Mediacorp's Mandarin-language television channels, Channels 8 and U.

Before 2010, 8world News delivered its broadcasts across three distinct time slots: News 8 At One (1点新闻): A daily midday bulletin, Singapore Today (狮城6点半): An early evening news program, News 8 at 10 (10点新闻): A late-night news report.
In 2010, Mediacorp underwent organisational changes, including a reduction in the MediaCorp News Group workforce. Simultaneously, Channel U sought to diversify its programming with more entertainment-focused content. As a result, Mediacorp discontinued all dedicated news programs on Channel U, effective March 29, 2010. The "News 8 at 10" program was subsequently shifted to an 11:00 PM timeslot and rebranded as "News Tonight" (晚间新闻).
On October 20, 2014, 8world News implemented further scheduling changes. "Hello Singapore" (狮城有约) replaced "Singapore Today" as the weekday early evening program. This new format integrated news segments within the show at 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM and was broadcast live. Additionally, "News 8 At One" (1点新闻) was discontinued for weekend broadcasts.
On March 13, 2017, Channel 8 News commenced broadcasting from its new headquarters at 1 Stars Avenue. This relocation followed the final broadcast from the previous Caldecott Hill location, "News Tonight," on March 12, 2017.[2]
The move to the new facility facilitated a comprehensive upgrade, encompassing revised news graphics, modernised subtitles, and the implementation of advanced hardware.
Effective April 1, 2021, 8world News implemented subtitling in Chinese for its key programs: "News 8 At One," "Hello Singapore," and "Singapore Today."

Presenters
8world News employs a rotating roster of presenters for its daily news broadcasts. While most time slots feature a single anchor, the weekday edition of "News Tonight" utilises a dual-presenter format. To enhance viewer engagement, Channel 8 incorporates a news ticker displaying key headlines on the left side of the screen, typically beginning 30 minutes prior to News Tonight, as well as a headlines preview of the news, typically 15 and 30 minutes before Hello Singapore (weekdays)/Singapore Today (weekends) and News Tonight (daily) respectively.

The news timeslots are mostly fixed. However, there are some exceptions:
- On National Day (9 August), Hello Singapore (weekday) or Singapore Today (weekend) would be moved earlier to facilitate the live broadcast of the National Day Parade.
- On the day of the National Day Rally, Singapore Today would be presented at 6:15pm, 15 minutes earlier before the live broadcast of the National Day Rally speeches at 6.45pm.
- News Tonight is not presented on Polling Day of the Singapore General Elections.
- No commentaries for News Tonight were made for Channel 8 since 2020.
Commentaries would not be heard at the end of the drama series during the credits, regardless of production company (e.g. Wawa Pictures, Mediacorp Studios Malaysia), whether if there are no featurettes, promotions, theme songs or snippets. The Ultimatum was the first drama series to air without commentaries, while Crescendo became the first non-Mediacorp Studios produced drama to air without commentaries. Hero was the first show with neither of the 4 conditions to have no commentary but only for the first episode, subsequent episodes had commentaries.
- Channel U aired its first "live" edition of News Tonight at 11:00pm on 5 May 2013. This is the first time Channel U did so in three years, to present the live results of the 2013 Malaysian general election.[citation needed]
- During the period of National Mourning from 23 to 29 March 2015 in lieu of the death of Lee Kuan Yew, all MediaCorp channels presented the highlights and latest news regarding Mr Lee. There is a change to the music at the start and end of every news programme, to a much melancholic tune. All programmes aired on MediaCorp channels were also pre-empted for a week, to air the latest news regarding Mr Lee. There was also a 15-minute special edition of News 8 at One on 28 March 2015 (Saturday).
- Channel U aired a live version of "News Tonight" at 11pm on 1 September 2023 to present the results of the 2023 Singaporean presidential election.
