In organic chemistry, the term cyanomethyl (cyanide (N≡C) + methyl (CH3)) designates:
- A cyanomethyl group (N≡CCH2–), a type of nitrile group
- The cyanomethyl radical (N≡CCH2·)
- The cyanomethyl carbanion (N≡CCH2−)
