The Dasheri mango is a mango cultivar which originated in a village near Malihabad in Lucknow district and was recognised in the 18th century. It is a sweet and fragrant variety of mango grown in North India, the southern state Andhra Pradesh, Nepal, and Pakistan. Malihabad in Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer.[1]

History

Dasheri mango was originated in the districts of Uttar Pradesh and became recognized in the gardens of the Nawab of Dasheri village. The first orchard of Dasheri mangoes is said to be evolved in Allupur, Malihabad, and the legacy of Abdul Hameed Khan Kandhari continues to be preserved by the Kandhari Pathans of Malihabad. The mother plant is believed to be over 300 years old.
