Rio 3 is an upcoming American animated musical comedy film directed by Carlos Saldanha. It would be the sequel to Rio 2 (2014), the third installment in the Rio franchise. It will be the first theatrical Rio film not to be produced by Blue Sky Studios, following its closure on April 10, 2021.

Production
During an interview, Carlos Saldanha conditioned the third film to the success of Rio 2
Director Carlos Saldanha had kept the possibility for Rio 3 open. In April 2014, he stated, "Of course, I have a lot of stories to tell, so we're [starting to] prepare for it.".[2] In 2023, Saldanha stated that he was working on an unknown project to make [it] happen.[1]
