Countries and territories
This is a list of countries, territories and communities which have the Dutch language as an official language or commonly spoken:
- Suriname (due to the Dutch colonisation of the Guianas).[3]
- The Dutch Antilles which are now divided in the countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten).[4]
- The northeastern region of Brazil, which is inhabited by some Dutch communities (due to the old colony of Dutch Brazil, sumed up by the Dutch immigration to Brazil).[5]
