Enuani is a distinct language spoken primarily by the Enuani people, an ethnic group native to Delta North, particularly in the Oshimili and Aniocha regions of Delta State, Nigeria It is spoken in towns and communities such as Ibusa (Igbuzo), Asaba, Okpanam, Ogwashi-Uku, Issele-Uku, Ubuluku, and surrounding areas. The language exhibits its own phonological features, tonal systems, vocabulary, and grammatical structure, distinguishing it from neighbouring languages. Enuani-speaking communities maintain a cohesive cultural identity marked by shared customs, traditional leadership institutions, and longstanding socio-cultural practices, which reinforce their distinction from surrounding ethnic groups.

It is the native language of communities Including Akukwu -igbo, Asaba, Ejeme-Aniogo, Egbudu-Akah, Ibusa, Idumuje-Uno, Idumuje-Ugboko, Illah, Issele-Azagba, Issele-Uku, Ogwashi-Uku, Ugbodu, Okpanam, Oko communities, Onicha-Ugbo, Onicha-Uku, Idumu - Ogo, Onicha-Olona, Ukwunzu, Ubulu-uno, Ubulu-Uku, Ubulu-okiti, Ukala Okpunor, Ukala Okwute and others within the region. The Enuani language is not a dialect, nor is it derived or adopted. It has been the original language of the Enuani people since time immemorial, and it remains a central part of their identity, culture, and communication.
This language is homogeneous across Enuani-speaking communities, meaning speakers across different towns can understand one another with ease. The language has a consistent accent, well-established orthography, and is used in everyday speech, traditional ceremonies, and communal life.
Enuani is the lingua franca of all indigenous communities across Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Oshimili North, and Oshimili South Local Government Areas of Delta State. These communities not only share a common language but also have deep cultural ties, similar customs and traditional institutions, and a collective sense of shared ancestry.
