Farsan (Persian: فارسان)[a] is a city in the Central District of Farsan County, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[5]

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 26,219 in 5,665 households.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 28,013 people in 7,190 households.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 30,504 people in 8,400 households.[3]

Farsan has a hot dry-summer Continental climate (Dsa), with hot summer days, cool summer nights and cold winter days, freezing winter nights. Rainfall is significant in winter and spring but not so much in summer, only often resulting from thunderstorms.

Frost is quite common in the region. Farsan on average experiences 112.5 days with frost from November to March, with rare occurrences in April or October.[9]
