Gonzalo Oliveira (born 17 February 1995 as Gonçalo Oliveira) is a Portuguese-born tennis player who currently represents Venezuela and plays on the ATP Challenger Tour. He has a career high ATP singles ranking of world No. 194 achieved on 25 December 2017. He also has a career high doubles ranking of No. 77 achieved on 24 August 2020. He is currently the No. 1 Venezuelan player.[2]

Career

On 18 March 2019, Olivera reached the top 100 in the doubles rankings at world No. 99, the seventh Portuguese player to accomplish the feat.[3]

In November 2024, he captured his maiden ATP Challenger Tour singles title at the inaugural edition of the 2024 Brazzaville Challenger, becoming the first player representing Venezuela to win a Challenger title in 24 years, since Jimy Szymanski in Tulsa in 2000.[4][5][6][7] A month later, he reached his second Challenger singles final at the 2024 Manzanillo Open, where he lost to Mats Rosenkranz.[8][9]

Oliveira was provisionally suspended from professional tennis by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) on 17 January 2025. He tested positive for Metamfetamine, a non-specified prohibited substance.[10][11]
