Don Anderson founded Great Planes Model Manufacturing in 1982, aiming to address the quality issues prevalent in RC aircraft kits at the time. The company pioneered the use of computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-controlled machinery to produce precision-cut, interlocking airframe components. This innovation significantly improved the ease of assembly and structural integrity of RC models, setting new industry standards.
