Habib ibn Muzahir (Arabic: حبيب بن مظاهر الأسدي, romanized: Ḥabīb ibn Muẓāhir al-Asadī) of the Banu Asad clan was a companion of Ali, Hasan ibn Ali and Husayn ibn Ali. He was among those in Kufa who sent letters to Husayn ibn Ali, inviting him there. However, upon learning that the people of Kufa had broken their allegiance to Husayn, he reportedly left Kufa and joined Husayn. He was killed at the age of 75 while fighting in Husayn's army in the Battle of Karbala.[1]

Battle of Karbala
Habib was given command of the left flank of Husayn's army, which was divided into three sections: the left flank, the right flank, and the center.[2] His tomb is located in the Imam Husayn Shrine on the southern porch.[3][4][5]
Reportedly, Habib fought and killed 62 soldiers of the opposing side before being attacked by Budayl bin Maryam 'Aqfani, who struck him on the head with a sword. Another soldier then stabbed Habib with a spear, causing him to fall from his horse, after which Budayl bin Maryam beheaded him.[6]
