Honour (fief)

In medieval Europe, an honour was a large, often geographically dispersed feudal landholding granted by a monarch to a noble tenant in chief, typically comprising multiple estates administered as a single lordship.^[1] The term was first used to indicate that an estate gave its holder honour, dignity and status.^[2] and was used in England, Portugal, Hungary^[3] and France.
