The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) is an association of film producers established in 1937.[5] As a non-profit organization, it functions as a film registration body and service to address issues for producers within the industry.[citation needed] The IMPPA acts as a central organizational body for producers in the Indian film industry.[6]

The Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) held an election on April 10, 2022, in which a new member executive committee was established. Abhay Sinha was elected as the president of the association. Subsequently, the committee appointed members to various internal committees to resolve industry-related matters. The following persons were appointed as members of the Executive Committee (EC) Sushama Shiromanee, Kuku Kohli, Ashoke Pandit, Babubhai Thiba, Tinu Verma, Rajkumar R. Pandey, Atul Patel, Nishant Ujjawal, Yusuf Shaikh, Mahendra Dhariwal, Harsukh Patel, Ghanshyam Talaviya, Vinod Gupta, Pradeep Singh, Roshan Kumar Sing, Sanjeev Sing, Jagdish Bariya, Bharat Patel, Rikku Rakesh Nath and Manish Jain[7][8][9]

77th Cannes Film Festival

The IMPPA partnered with the Confederation of Indian Industry in 2024 to feature Indian cinema at the Bharat Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival. On behalf of the IMPPA, promotion of the Bhojpuri film Sanyog at the Cannes Film Festival was done by Rajpal Yadav. The collaboration sought to highlight the diverse narratives and rich cultural heritage of Indian cinema on an international platform.[10]

The Cannes festival's Bharat Pavilion, designed by the National Institute of Design at Ahmedabad, was named The Sutradhara to reflect this year’s theme, “Create in India.” As a new establishment to Cannes Film, it is intended to serve as a platform of collaboration, networking, and support for Indian cinema.[11] This was designed to underscore India’s commitment to showcasing its cinematic heritage and fostering international collaborations. As part of the Cannes Film Festival, the NFDC collaboration with FICCI organized a special event titled Bharat Parva. The event, held at the French Riviera, began with an address by Sanjay Jaju, secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.[12][13][14]

55th International Film Festival of India

Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) introduced a floating networking venue at 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa 2024. The IMPPA Yacht, a three-deck luxury vessel was dock on the Mandovi River, opposite the festival venue Marriott. The yacht was inaugurated on November 21, 2024, by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha and Sanjay Jaju Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The yacht served as the hub of IMPPA from November 20 to 25, host to master classes, film launches, and industry events. Over 1000 visitors attended the venue during the Film Bazaar from November 20 to 24 more than 30 producers utilized the space for launches, press conferences, and networking. Notable events a included masterclass on international copyright and IPR laws conducted by Bertrand Moullier, Senior Adviser for International Affairs at FIAPF. According to IMPPA president Abhay Sinha, the initiative aimed to provide IMPPA's 25000 plus members with an outstanding festival experience, comparable to global standards such as the Cannes Film Festival. The closing ceremony at IFFI was held as Goa's Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium. Dignitaries in attendance include Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Sanjay Jaju, and IFFI Festival Director Shekhar Kapur. IFFI 2024 Organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). The festival concluded on November 28, 2024.[15][16][17]
