Issele-uku (Edo’no’ri’isi-ile-Uku), was originally created by Oba Eweka 1 of Benin through his second son Ogie Uwadie who started the satellite kingdom of Issele-uku in 1230AD. Today,Issele-uku is a town in Nigeria's Delta State and headquarters for the Local Government Area of Aniocha North.[1] It is also the Episcopal See of the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku. It has its own post office and is served by the nearby new Asaba International Airport.

History
Issele-Uku(Edo’no’ri’isi-ile-uku) was originally created by Oba Eweka 1 of Benin through his second son Ogie Uwadie in 1230AD. The Kingdom still reflects its Benin culture through various festivals and traditional administrative system that mirrors that of the Benin Kingdom. It’s Ine festival is considered the largest cultural/Festival gathering in Delta State of Nigeria.The town is in present-day Delta State.[2] The Issele-uku Association of North America has written a brief history of this area including an explanation of the origin of the name of the city.
