Issele Ukwu

Issele-uku (Edo’no’ri’isi-ile-Uku), was originally created by Oba Eweka 1 of Benin through his second son Ogie Uwadie who started the satellite kingdom of Issele-uku in 1230AD. Today,Issele-uku is a town in Nigeria's Delta State and headquarters for the Local Government Area of Aniocha North.^[1] It is also the Episcopal See of the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku. It has its own post office and is served by the nearby new Asaba International Airport.

Issele-Uku(Edo’no’ri’isi-ile-uku) was originally created by Oba Eweka 1 of Benin through his second son Ogie Uwadie in 1230AD. The Kingdom still reflects its Benin culture through various festivals and traditional administrative system that mirrors that of the Benin Kingdom.
