Self-propelled artillery

According to experts, Romania showed interest in the tank.[252] After an initial order for 54 M1A2 tanks was signed, it was announced that the MBT program might increase to 300 MBTs. Other offers could include the Leopard 2 or the K2 Black Panther.[253][254] As reported in April 2024, the K2 underwent testing in Romania between 10 and 16 May. The tank will also be present at the Black Sea Defense & Aerospace [ro] 2024 exposition.[255][256] This will be a first step for a future contract with transfer of technology.[257][258] Romania also met German defence industries related to future needs. With Norway, Germany, Italy, Czechia ordering the Leopard 2A8, the production will ramp up.[259]
