List of current NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches

As of the most recent college basketball season in 2024–25, 362 women's college basketball programs competed in NCAA Division I, including full D-I members and programs transitioning from a lower NCAA division (most from Division II and one from Division III) [1] Four schools (Bellarmine, Tarleton, UC San Diego, and Utah Tech) completed transitions from Division II at the end of the 2023–24 school year. At the same time, Mercyhurst and West Georgia started their transitions from Division II. Each program employs a head coach.

As of the next college season in 2025–26, the longest-tenured head coach at his or her current school is expected to be Geno Auriemma of UConn, who has held that position since 1985–86.

Conference affiliations reflect those in place for the 2025–26 season. This list also reflects coaching vacancies announced at the end of the 2024–25 season.

  1. The Western Athletic Conference will change its name to United Athletic Conference in 2026. WAC members Abilene Christian, Tarleton State, and UT Arlington will transfer to the UAC, and Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, North Alabama, Tarleton State, and West Georgia will join from the pre-2026 Atlantic Sun Conference.
  2. Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State, and Utah State join the Pac-12 Conference in 2026.
  3. California Baptist, Sacramento State, and Utah Valley join the Big West Conference in 2026.

  9. This is Crowley's second stint as St. Bonaventure head coach. He had previously served from 2000 to 2016.
  10. Saint Francis will start a transition to NCAA Division III in 2026 as a new member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
  11. Southern Utah and Utah Tech join the Big Sky Conference in 2026.
  12. This is Adams' second stint as the Miners' head coach. She had previously been the head coach from 2001 to 2017.
