Mahmoud Abu Watfa headed the interior ministry in the Hamas government within the Gaza Strip, overseeing police and internal security. After the temporary Israel-Hamas ceasefire from January-March 2025 he was seen patrolling Gaza City with police offers. [1] [2] He was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on March 18th 2025, along with several other hamas officials. [3] Watfa held the rank of General. [4]
