Marcos de Mendonça

In this Portuguese name, the first or maternal family name is Carneiro and the second or paternal family name is Mendonça.

Marcos Cláudio Phillipe Carneiro de Mendonça (born December 25, 1894) was a Brazilian footballer who achieved notoriety playing for Fluminense and the Brazil national football team. He was the inaugural goalkeeper for Brazil and played a key role in Brazil's debut cup, the 1919 South American Championship.^[1][2][3]

Personal life

He married the poetess Anna Amélia de Queiroz [pt] in 1917 and had four children, among them the theatre critic Bárbara Heliodora.^[4][5]
