Miriam O'Callaghan (camogie)

Miriam O'Callaghan (Miriam Ní Cheallacháin) was the 26th president of the Camogie Association.[1] She defeated Helen McAleevy of Down 39-27 at the 2003 congress in the Arklow Bay Hotel.[2]

Presidential Events
This was a presidency that coincided with publicity campaigns like the 2003 initiative with 3 players from one of the marketable teams who wore black dresses. The campaign preceded the presidency, which only began in mid-2003.[3]
Around this time GAA President Seán Kelly moved to integrate the camogie association and the GAA.[4]
Assisted by Leinster Chairman Liam O'Neill, the association was able to twin U-21 hurling with the senior camogie final, a short-lived deal that was gone by the end of the decade.[5]
In 2004 she unveiled a plaque at Navan.[6]
In the year of its centenary, RTÉ covered the All Ireland semi-finals on live TV for the first time.[7]
The association marked 100 years with a Gala Banquet, and there were various announcements and numerous other events throughout the year.[citation needed]

Other roles
When Camogie President appointed to the BCC (chaired by senior counsel Michael McGrath) whose members include Sean O'Sullivan and auctioneer Joe Brady.[8] After the presidency appointments to various boards, including a Local Sports Partnership[9] where she was joined by GAA Ard Stiurthóir Páraic Duffy.[10]
