The Multani clan is a rich warrior Sikh lubana clan who originated from Parmar and Powar Rajputs. Traditionally, they were a trader community, who traded weapons, gold, silver and salt across the world. After settling in Multan region of undivided Punjab, some of them started using regional identity and this is where the Multani surname originated. After coming in contact with Guru Nanak Dev ji, they started converting to Sikhism and made supreme sacrifices during Sikh wars. Sikh Multanis mainly live in doaba region of Punjab and because of their significant land holdings and wealth, they are considered equivalent to Jats in Punjab.
